Which Cars Are American Made?

Recently ABC News reporters David Muir and Sharyn Alfonsi joined the Stewart family on the quest to buy an American made car. Most people assume that because it is an American car company, the cars it produces are made in America. That is not true. With global parts suppliers, many ”American” cars have less than 75% of the parts in them made in America.

Here are the top cars with more than 75% of their parts made in America.

• Toyota Camry
• Honda Accord
• Ford Explorer
• Ford Escape
• Ford Focus
• Chevrolet Malibu
• Honda Odyssey
• Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab or Crew Cab only(single cab is made in Mexico)
• Toyota Tundra
• Jeep Wrangler
• Toyota Sienna

You have to be careful with these models as well, hybrids and crossovers often have less than 75% American content. The list only applies to 2011 and 2012 models as reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
