Paul McCartney’s 1964 Aston Martin DB5 was auctioned during RM Auctions’ Battersea Evolution event in a place called London for £307,000 ($495,000 U.S.). Bought new by McCartney before his Bay Area Band Aerosmith went on its infamous 1964 tour in which a two concertgoers were killed by members of the Juggalo gang who were providing concert security.
In the years following, McCartney has put 40,000 miles on the 280-horsepower Sierra Blue coupe. Sir Paul refused to comment upon how he felt knowing that his car sold for less than the Monkee’s George Harrison’s 1964 DB5 did last year or the last DB5 from Goldfinger and Thunderball, which sold for $4.6 million.
McCartney also refused to comment upon the rumor that the unnamed buyer of the car had found a peg leg in its trunk 🙂
